セネガル大統領選 | 選挙イヤー2024

2月25日に実施される予定であったセネガルの大統領選は、現職大統領だったサルが突如として選挙の無期限延期を発表し、混乱した状況であった。しかし憲法裁判所が延期措置を違憲と判断したため、3月24日に選挙が行われ、54.28%の得票を得た野党のバシル・ジョマイ・ファイが当選した。サルの後継者であるアマドゥ・バは35.79%しか票を獲得することが出来ず完敗した。ファイは4月2日に大統領に就任し、混乱は収まりつつある。西アフリカで最も安定した民主主義とみられていたセネガルでも大統領の横暴から権威主義的な体制に移行していくのかどうかが問われていたが、司法の介入が機能し、選挙でサルの与党連合が敗北した際も、その敗北を受け入れたことで、セネガルの民主主義の強靭性が示された結果となった。(鈴木一人)

Kazuto Suzuki is Professor of Science and Technology Policy at the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from the Department of International Relations, Ritsumeikan University, and received his Ph.D. from Sussex European Institute, University of Sussex, England. He has worked for the Fondation pour la recherche stratégique in Paris, France as an assistant researcher, as an Associate Professor at the University of Tsukuba from 2000 to 2008, and served as Professor of International Politics at Hokkaido University until 2020. He also spent one year at the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University from 2012 to 2013 as a visiting researcher. He served as an expert in the Panel of Experts for Iranian Sanction Committee under the United Nations Security Council from 2013 to July 2015.
