Akihiko Sasaki is Program Coordination Manager at the Institute of Geoeconomics (IOG). He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Keio University and a Master of Science’s degree in Materials Chemistry from the same university.
He has worked at Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (now part of Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd.), where he was involved in management advisory, the implementation of integrated management systems, and Business Process Reengineering (BPR) projects. He also participated in a corporate restructuring project at Royal Dutch Shell. In addition, he served in the National Showa Shell Oil Workers’ Union as Secretary General and Chair of the Executive Committee.
He has recently worked at the Cabinet Office of Japan under the Director General for Disaster Management. He contributed to the development of the “Business Continuity Guidelines” for companies and to initiatives promoting the adoption of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) by enterprises, as well as serving as a public relations planner. He has held his current position since June 2024.
