Koki Shigenoi is Visiting Researcher at the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies (III), The University of Tokyo, and Associated Researcher at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), The University of Tokyo. Completed the required coursework in the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Global Studies, Doshisha University, and withdrew without obtaining a doctoral degree (2017–2024).
Prior to the current appointments, held positions including Visiting Researcher at the Al Jazeera Centre for Studies; Visiting Researcher at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Hamad Bin Khalifa University; Research and Analysis Specialist at the Intelligence and Analysis Service, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; Research Associate in the Asia-Pacific Department of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung; Research Fellow at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS); and Collaborative Researcher at the Graduate School of Public Policy, The University of Tokyo. Also involved in the founding and development of three start-ups in Japan and overseas.
